Concerts Courses

We can't believe it's just over four weeks' time until the young musicians from our Main and Under 13 Orchestras embark on their spring residential courses in sunny Dorset!

Main Orchestra will spend a week in the lush surroundings of Port Regis School with conductor Howard Williams. They have bags of talent up their sleeves, and will present a variety of music at Colston Hall, including Kodály's Háry János Suite - from the Hungarian folk opera about the man with a big imagination! Catch Main Orchestra in action on Saturday 8 April (7pm).

On April Fool's Day, the Under 13 Orchestra travel to Sherborne Girls for 8 days of music making. They will be unleashing some springtime magic - under the baton of Roger Clarkson - at Anvil Arts on Sunday 9 April (3pm). This afternoon concert is perfect for families - expect to hear William's spellbinding Harry Potter Symphonic Suite, amongst other delights.

A week later, the Under 12 Orchestra will pitch up at Port Regis School. The 107 young musicians will be working very hard with conductor Peter Currie, to prepare for a wonderful in-house concert for family and friends at the end of the week. Their performance will include Britten's Soirées Musicales, Copland's Our Town and  Williams's Selections from E.T. Exciting stuff!
