Regional Orchestras
Our residential training is backed up with optional membership of Regional Orchestras. These provide an opportunity for children to play with members across the full NCO age range inbetween the residential courses at a venue close to home.
Although optional, we highly recommend that NCO members join a Regional Orchestra. It is a chance for new members to meet other children that they will be going on the residential courses with, which can help alleviate any anxiety about not knowing anyone. It is also an opportunity for younger members to see what they can aspire to, and for older members to get a first taste of mentoring and supporting young musicians.
We have four regional orchestras, one in the South East, one in the South West, one in the East and one in the North. Each orchestra meets up seven times a year between September and June to rehearse and perform for family and friends at a concert in the Summer.
As they are an optional extra there is a small additional charge for attending Regional Orchestra rehearsals of £10. However, children who receive a bursary for membership fees will receive financial support for Regional Orchestra fees as well. There is also a discount for families who have more than one child attending a rehearsal.
If you are a 2010 member of the NCO and would like to join a Regional Orchestra please click here to download an editable form, or download a pdf version to print.
