The National Children's Orchestra of Great Britain Prepare for Upcoming Concert at The Anvil, Basingstoke.

The young musicians from the National Children’s Orchestra (NCO) are beginning a fun, inspiring residential music course, in preparation for their performance at The Anvil on Saturday 10 April, 7 pm.

The intensive residential course begins April 2 for the NCO’s Under 13 Orchestra, during which first-class musical training is teamed with socially-developmental activities. The course is led by tutors drawn from major national orchestras and specialist music schools around the country. The course culminates in a full orchestra concert performance, at The Anvil, which should not be missed.

The children will be working hard to perfect the ambitious concert programme, spending up to seven hours a day rehearsing. It is not all work though, and there will be plenty of time for them to relax and have fun together. They have willingly given up their school holiday to attend the course, showing just how dedicated and passionate they are.

Director of music, Roger Clarkson comments:
“As we move closer to our performance at The Anvil I become even more excited about the outstanding standard of music that will be produced. The NCO has a spell-binding programme and I have no doubt that the audience will be enchanted by the extraordinary playing of this talented young orchestra, in which no child is older than 13.”

Gifted conductor and director of music, Roger Clarkson, is to lead the brilliant young instrumentalists through a captivating programme, certain to appeal to all music-lovers. The Under 13 Orchestra will perform Strauss’ rousing Overture – Die Fledermaus and Holst’s much- loved Mars and Jupiter from the Planets Suite, amongst other exciting and engaging pieces.

Audiences will be amazed by the talent of these young musicians who are sure to wow at The Anvil and play with a heightened sense of vigour and enthusiasm following their stimulating residential course.

Tickets for the National Children’s Orchestra Spring Concert range from £10 to £18, with a £2 discount for concessions, and cost £5 for children under 16. Telephone The Anvil on 01256 844244, email boxoffice@anvilarts.org.uk or visit www.anvilarts.org.uk.

NATIONAL CHILDREN’S ORCHESTRA OF GREAT BRITAIN
The National Children’s Orchestra holds nationwide auditions every year to populate its five, age-banded orchestras with the most gifted young orchestral players that the UK has to offer. The quality of orchestral training provided to NCO members is unrivalled, with children being given the opportunity to take part in intensive residential courses where first-class musical training is teamed with socially developmental activities.

The tutors for these sessions are drawn from major national orchestras and specialist music schools around the country. Each residential course culminates in a full orchestra concert performance, like the one being held at The Anvil.

RESIDENTIAL COURSE DETAILS

We would love to invite members of the press to see for themselves the wonderful developmental work that takes place with the children as part of our intensive courses. The Residential course for our Under 13 Orchestra directly precedes the concert at the Anvil and runs from 2-10 April. This year’s course is being held at Port-Regis School in Dorset.
