Free: join the orchestra for a day
05 May 2010
Love playing music? Want to see what being in an orchestra is like?
Access2Orchestra, the NCO event that gives young musicians the chance to experience the excitement of playing in a symphony orchestra, returns this May.
Taking place over a week in Newcastle, Shrewsbury, Cambridge and Plymouth, Access2Orchestra welcomes children aged between 6 and 12 who live in or near any of these locations.
Participants will have the chance to play alongside NCO members, spending the day meeting other young musicians and rehearsing music under the guidance of our expert tutors. At the end of the day, they will be able to take part in a performance for family and friends.
The events are free, and there is no need to audition; we only ask that those wishing to take part have reached between Grades 3 and 8 standard on their instrument.
“I am looking forward to that very special excitement and exhilaration which these events engender”, says Roger Clarkson, our Director of Music, adding that he is “hoping to discover some new young talent too!”
