“I’ll never forget my time with NCO. Looking back on it now I can appreciate how valuable the experience was. It was such an enjoyable time and the chance to work with other musicians from such an early age was an invaluable learning opportunity.”
Nicola Benedetti, NCO member 1995-98
NCO alumni include winners of the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition, Guy Johnston (2000) and Nicola Benedetti (2004), as well as the Principal Conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, 26 year old Robin Ticciati, and the internationally-acclaimed young conductor, Daniel Harding. Many of our former members can be found in leading professional orchestras, such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Hallé Orchestra.
As well as those who build successful careers as professional musicians, many other NCO alumni go on to excel in other fields – medicine, law and engineering among others. Time after time the NCO experience is commended by players and their parents for fostering an ethos among our members of aspiring to the highest standards in everything that they do.
